NAR just updated its Code of Ethics — removing “hate speech” language and narrowing enforcement to professional actions only. Translation? Local and state boards have less responsibility, and brokerages now carry more of the load.

What’s the big deal?
While this reduces liability for state and local Realtor associations, it also puts more responsibility on brokers to manage ethics, discrimination complaints, and agent behavior — especially outside of transactions.
